This guide will show you how to get your enchanting skill up from 0 to 300. The guide will only use recipe’s available at a trainer until 265 and vendor available recipe’s from 265 to 300.

This guide only uses recipes that require components aquired through disenchanting. Shards will be avoided as much as possible, since they are difficult to get.

This guide does not tell you how to get all the different recipe’s from quests, vendors or drops. What you do once you hit 300 is entirely up to you.

This guide is primarily aimed at those who want to switch profession at high level or have high level alts, friends or guildmembers.

Preparation
You are going to need a lot of dust, essences and some shards. Create two alt storage characters, level one of the storage characters up to 5, so she can become an enchanter and send green items to her for disenchanting. Send green items to the other storage character. Since disenchanting will also give a skill point, these green items will be used to disenchant later. Use the ingame mail system to send everything to the storage characters. Don’t forget to send some gold to the storage characters, so they can send everything back.

Ofcourse you want to know at which level a green item gives what. Below is a list taken from Jaywu’s Enchanting FAQ.

Dust and Essence:
Generally the dust is from armor and the essence is from weapons, though it can randomly be anything.

Level 01-10: A little strange dust/lesser magic essence.
Level 11-15: Much strange dust/greater magic essence.
Level 16-20: Much strange dust/lesser astral essence.
Level 21-25: Little soul dust/greater astral essence.
Level 26-30: Much soul dust/lesser mystic essence.
Level 31-35: Little vision dust/greater mystic essence.
Level 36-40: Much vision dust/lesser nether essence.
Level 41-45: Little dream dust/greater nether essence.
Level 46-50: Much dream dust/lesser eternal essence.
Level 51-55: Little illusion dust/greater eternal essence.
Level 56-60: Much illusion dust/greater eternal essence.

Shards:
Shards come from blue or purple items (they can come from greens, but don’t count on it).

Level 01-20: Small glimmering.
Level 21-25: Large glimmering.
Level 26-30: Small glowing.
Level 31-35: Large glowing.
Level 36-40: Small radiant.
Level 41-45: Large radiant.
Level 46-50: Small brilliant.
Level 51-60: Large brilliant.

Once you have all the components collected everything has to be send back to your main character. The mailbox only shows the first 50 items you have in the mail. It also puts the last item send to you on top. So to avoid complications send the components you need first last: i.e. the green items to disenchant are needed first, so these are the last to be send back to your main, after strange dust and magic essences, which are needed next, and the other dusts and essences.

To learn recipe’s from a trainer costs gold. The amount of gold needed is aproximately 20 to 25 gold if you disenchant all of the dust, essences and shards. If you want to buy everything you need from the auction house expect to spend upwards to 1000 gold (including the arcanite rod). This does not include gold for recipe’s from vendors or the auction house.

To enchant something requires runed rods, such as a runed silver rod. To make those runed rods you need normal rods. For example; to make a runed silver rod you need a silver rod. The following rods are needed; copper rod, silver rod, golden rod, truesilver rod and arcanite rod. The copper rod is sold by vendors and the other rods are made by blacksmiths. Find a blacksmith who can make the rods for you or check the auction house and get them. The arcanite rod is expensive. Making a runed arcanite rod is also expensive. Since it is not needed for this guide, but only for the highlevel enchants, you may want to postpone getting one if you are strapped for gold.

Below is a table that shows the amount of dust, essences and shards needed. The minimum amount column shows the minimum amount needed if you would get a skill point every time you enchant something. However at some point a recipe will be yellow or even green when you enchant something so you won’t allways get a skill point. The estimated amount column deals with this, so try to get the estimated amount of dust, essences and shards on your storage character. The numbers in the estimated amount column are rounded up to full stacks of whatever the component stacks up to. The numbers in the table do not take into account the disenchanting of items to get the first skill points. If you buy everything you need from the auction house i suggest getting the minimum amount and only buy more when needed.

Component Minimum Amount Estimated Amount
Strange Dust 153 (16 stacks) 180 (18 stacks)
Soul Dust 75 (8 stacks) 90 (9 stacks)
Vision Dust 156 (16 stacks) 170 (17 stacks)
Dream Dust 290 (29 stacks) 320 (32 stacks)
Illusion Dust 82 (9 stacks) 90 (12 stacks)
Lesser Magic Essence 11 (2 stacks) 15 (2 stacks)
Greater Magic Essence 18 (2 stacks) 25 (3 stacks)
Lesser Astral Essence 10 (1 stacks) 15 (2 stacks)
Greater Astral Essence 2 (1 stacks) 2 (1 stacks)
Lesser Mystic Essence 20 (2 stacks) 25 (3 stacks)
Greater Mystic Essence 2 (1 stacks) 2 (1 stacks)
Lesser Nether Essence 10 (1 stacks) 15 (2 stacks)
Greater Nether Essence 20 (2 stacks) 25 (3 stacks)
Lesser Eternal Essence 0 (0 stacks) 0 (0 stacks)
Greater Eternal Essence 4 (1 stacks) 4 (1 stacks)
Small Glimmering Shard 0 (0 stacks) 0 (0 stacks)
Large Glimmering Shard 0 (0 stacks) 0 (0 stacks)
Small Glowing Shard 0 (0 stacks) 0 (0 stacks)
Large Glowing Shard 0 (0 stacks) 0 (0 stacks)
Small Radiant Shard 0 (0 stacks) 0 (0 stacks)
Large Radiant Shard 0 (0 stacks) 0 (0 stacks)
Small Brilliant Shard 4 (1 stacks) 4 (1 stacks)
Large Brilliant Shard 2 (1 stacks) 2 (2 stacks)
Shadowgem 1 (1 stacks) 1 (1 stacks)
Iridescent Pearl 1 (1 stacks) 1 (1 stacks)
Black Pearl 1 (1 stacks) 1 (1 stacks)
Golden Pearl 1 (1 stacks) 1 (1 stacks)
Copper Rod 1 (1 stacks) 1 (1 stacks)
Silver Rod 1 (1 stacks) 1 (1 stacks)
Golden Rod 1 (1 stacks) 1 (1 stacks)
Truesilver Rod 1 (1 stacks) 1 (1 stacks)
Arcanite Rod 1 (1 stacks) 1 (1 stacks)

Getting from 1 to 50
Earlier I wrote that you need runed rods to enchant something. The first rod needed is the runed copper rod. So make a runed copper rod to get your first skill point.

Disenchanting items will get you a skill point. Send the green items you stored on a storage character to your main and disenchant them.

If you were not able to reach 50 with disenchanting, enchant a bracer with minor health to get to skill 50. You can enchant the same bracer over and over again. An annoying window will pop up each time asking if you are sure to overwrite the existing enchant. Just click yes to do so.

Once you hit 50 talk to the appropriate trainer to become Journeyman Enchanter. You have to be level 10 to become Journeyman Enchanter.

This table shows the different recipes used to get from 0 to 50.

Skill Yellow Grey Item Components From – To Components needed
1 5 10 Runed Copper Rod 1x Copper Rod,
1x Strange Dust,
1x Lesser Magic Essence 0 – 1 (1) 1x Copper Rod,
1x Strange Dust,
1x Lesser Magic Essence
1 70 110 Enchant Bracer – Minor Health 1x Strange Dust
Required:
Runed Copper Rod 2 – 50 (49) 49x Strange Dust

Getting from 50 to 125
Enchant the bracer some more with minor health to get to 75. Now enchant the bracer with minor deflection to get to 85.

Enchant a bracer with minor stamina to get to 100.

At 100 you can make a runed silver rod, which you need later on, so make one now and get a skill point.

Enchant the bracer some more with minor stamina to get to 105, a bracer with minor agility to get to 120 and a shield with minor stamina to get to 125.

Once you hit 125 talk to the appropriate trainer to become Expert Enchanter. You have to be level 20 to become Expert Enchanter.

This table shows the different recipes used to get from 50 to 125.

Skill Yellow Grey Item Components From – To Components needed
1 70 110 Enchant Bracer – Minor Health 1x Strange Dust
Required:
Runed Copper Rod 50 – 75 (25) 25x Strange Dust
20 80 120 Enchant Bracer – Minor Deflection 1x Lesser Magic Essence,
1x Strange Dust
Required:
Runed Copper Rod 75 – 85 (10) 10x Lesser Magic Essence,
10x Strange Dust
50 100 140 Enchant Bracer – Minor Stamina 3x Strange Dust
Required:
Runed Copper Rod 85 – 100 (15)
101 – 105 (4) 45x Strange Dust
12x Strange Dust
80 115 155 Enchant Bracer – Minor Agility 2x Strange Dust,
1x Greater Magic Essence
Required:
Runed Copper Rod 105 – 120 (15) 30x Strange Dust,
15x Greater Magic Essence
100 130 170 Runed Silver Rod 1x Silver Rod,
6x Strange Dust,
3x Greater Magic Essence,
1x Shadowgem 100 – 101 (1) 1x Silver Rod,
6x Strange Dust,
3x Greater Magic Essence,
1x Shadowgem
105 130 170 Enchant Shield – Minor Stamina 1x Lesser Astral Essence,
2x Strange Dust
Required:
Runed Copper Rod 120 – 125 (5) 5x Lesser Astral Essence,
10x Strange Dust

Getting from 125 to 225
Enchant the shield some more with minor stamina to get to 130. Enchant a bracer with lesser stamina to get to 150.

At 150 you can make a runed golden rod, which you need later on, so make one now and get a skill point.

Enchant a bracer with lesser stamina to get to 160. Enchant a shield with lesser stamina or boots with lesser agility to get to 165. Enchant a bracer with spirit to get to 185 and a bracer with strength to get to 200.

Allthough you can become artisan enchanter once you hit 200 it is better to max to 225 first, since the trainer for artisan enchanter is inside an instance. I will get back on this in the next chapter. You have to be level 35 to become Artisan Enchanter.

At 200 you can make a runed truesilver rod, which you need later on, so make one now and get a skill point.

Enchant a bracer with strength some more to get to 205 and a cloak with greater defense to get to 225.

This table shows the different recipes used to get from 125 to 225.

Skill Yellow Grey Item Components From – To Components needed
105 130 170 Enchant Shield – Minor Stamina 1x Lesser Astral Essence,
2x Strange Dust
Required:
Runed Copper Rod 125 – 130 (5) 5x Lesser Astral Essence,
10x Strange Dust
130 155 195 Enchant Bracer – Lesser Stamina 2x Soul Dust
Required:
Runed Silver Rod 130 – 150 (25)
151 – 160 (9) 50x Soul Dust
18x Soul Dust
150 175 215 Runed Golden Rod 1x Golden Rod,
1x Iridescent Pearl,
2x Greater Astral Essence,
2x Soul Dust 150 – 151 (1) 1x Golden Rod,
1x Iridescent Pearl,
2x Greater Astral Essence,
2x Soul Dust
155 175 215 Enchant Shield – Lesser Stamina 1x Lesser Mystic Essence,
1x Soul Dust
Required:
Runed Golden Rod 160 – 165 (5) 5x Lesser Mystic Essence,
5x Soul Dust
160 180 220 Enchant Boots – Lesser Agility 1x Soul Dust,
1x Lesser Mystic Essence
Required:
Runed Golden Rod 160 – 165 (5) 5x Soul Dust,
5x Lesser Mystic Essence
165 185 225 Enchant Bracer – Spirit 1x Lesser Mystic Essence
Required:
Runed Golden Rod 165 – 180 (15) 15x Lesser Mystic Essence
180 200 240 Enchant Bracer – Strength 1x Vision Dust
Required:
Runed Golden Rod 180 – 200 (20)
201 – 205 (4) 20x Vision Dust
4x Vision Dust
200 220 260 Runed Truesilver Rod 1x Truesilver Rod,
1x Black Pearl,
2x Greater Mystic Essence,
2x Vision Dust 200 – 201 (1) 1x Truesilver Rod,
1x Black Pearl,
2x Greater Mystic Essence,
2x Vision Dust
205 225 265 Enchant Cloak – Greater Defense 3x Vision Dust
Required:
Runed Truesilver Rod 205 – 225 (20) 60x Vision Dust

Getting from 225 to 265
At 225 you have to become artisan enchanter to get any further. The master enchanter that teaches artisan enchanting is inside Uldaman. The highest level recipe she trains needs 250 skill, so you want to bring enough material to get to 250.

The table below shows the components needed to get from 225 to 250, so bring these with you when going the the master enchanter in Uldaman. You will need the runed truesilver rod made earlier as well. You will also need gloves, bracers and a chest item to enchant, but you are probably wearing those, so that shouldn’t be a problem.

Component Minimum Amount Estimated Amount
Vision Dust 70 (7 stacks) 90 (9 stacks)
Dream Dust 10 (1 stacks) 20 (2 stacks)
Lesser Nether Essence 10 (1 stacks) 20 (2 stacks)
Greater Nether Essence 5 (1 stacks) 10 (1 stacks)
Runed Truesilver Rod 1 1

Once you reach the trainer talk to her to become artisan enchanter. Once you’re artisan enchanter enchant gloves with agility to get to 235, a chest item with superior health to get to 245 and a bracer with greater strength to get to 250. Once you have trained all the recipe’s she can train you, you can leave the instance.

Enchant the bracer some more with greater strength to get to 265.

Allthough you can get to 270 before the last recipe you train from a trainer becomes yellow, I am not going to use that recipe since it requires wildvine. Wildvine is a herb and can not be aquired through disenchanting. The recipe also uses shards and i want to minimize the use of shards as much as possible. Vendor available recipe’s are going to be used to get to 300.

This table shows the different recipes used to get from 225 to 265.

Skill Yellow Grey Item Components From – To Components needed
210 230 270 Enchant Gloves – Agility 1x Lesser Nether Essence,
1x Vision Dust
Required:
Runed Truesilver Rod 225 – 235 (10) 10x Lesser Nether Essence,
10x Vision Dust
220 240 280 Enchant Chest – Superior Health 6x Vision Dust
Required:
Runed Truesilver Rod 235 – 245 (10) 60x Vision Dust
240 260 300 Enchant Bracer – Greater Strength 2x Dream Dust,
1x Greater Nether Essence
Required:
Runed Truesilver Rod 245 – 265 (20) 40x Dream Dust,
20x Greater Nether Essence

Getting from 265 to 300
Get the enchant shield – greater stamina recipe from Mythrin’dir in Darnassus or Daniel Bartlett in Undercity and enchant a shield with greater stamina to get to 290. The recipe is bind on pickup when bought so make sure you buy it yourself and not an alt, friend or guildmember.

At 290 you can make a runed arcanite rod, allthough you don’t need one to get to 300, you are going to need one in your enchanting career anyway, so make one now and get a skill point. You can get the runed arcanite rod recipe from Lorelae Wintersong in Moonglade.

Get the enchant cloak – superior defense from Lorelae Wintersong in Moonglade and enchant a cloak with superior defense to get to 300.

Congratulations, you now have 300 skill in enchanting.

This table shows the different recipes used to get from 265 to 300.

Skill Yellow Grey Item Components From – To Components needed
265 285 325 Enchant Shield – Greater Stamina 10x Dream Dust
Required:
Runed Truesilver Rod 265 – 290 (25) 250x Dream Dust
285 305 345 Enchant Cloak – Superior Defense 8x Illusion Dust
Required:
Runed Truesilver Rod 291 – 300 (9) 72x Illusion Dust
290 310 350 Runed Arcanite Rod 1x Arcanite Rod,
1x Golden Pearl,
10x Illusion Dust,
4x Greater Eternal Essence,
4x Small Brilliant Shard,
2x Large Brilliant Shard 290 – 291 (1) 1x Arcanite Rod,
1x Golden Pearl,
10x Illusion Dust,
4x Greater Eternal Essence,
4x Small Brilliant Shard,
2x Large Brilliant Shard

This table shows who and where the different vendors are for the previously mentioned recipe’s.

What Who Where
Enchant Shield – Greater Stamina (BoP) Mythrin’dir (Alliance Faction)
Daniel Bartlett (Horde Faction) Darnassus
Undercity
Enchant Cloak – Superior Defense Lorelae Wintersong (Neutral) Moonglade
Runed Arcanite Rod Lorelae Wintersong (Neutral) Moonglade

Here’s the guide

***

Welcome back fellow MPSers.

Been thinking this one over for a while now and finally decided that it would not be right to leave the guide series unfinished so without further ado, here’s my guide for levelling any character to 60.

The Choice

Well, first of all you’re faced with that age old question, do i grind or quest?

You’re probably gonna need to do both to rack up the tremendous amounts of xp needed to hit 60. The last level alone is well over 200k xp. That said, there’s smart quests and down right stupid quests. These are in short summarised as:

Smart

Kill Quests:
Always best for the xp you’re going to need there’s nothing more efficient than getting an xp bonus for grinding. The best ones are based near cities on mobs nearby in part of a series.

Instance Quests:
From 50-60 You will be visiting Maraudon, Sunken Temple, Black Rock Depths and maybe as ou get to the upper scale, LBRS. You’re unlikely to get a group for Strat, Scholo or UBRS before level 60 unless you have a nice guild that will take you.

There’s enough good loot to justify a few trips to all of the dungeons listed. The experience is good but as always, secondary to grinding.

Stupid

Any quest that involves an awful lot of travelling. You don’t get xp for flying about on a gryphon so don’t do these if you can avoid them.

Elite mobs quests outside dungeons. You’ll know what I mean, if you have to kill same level elite mobs you’re going to need a group, your xp will vanish and if the reward isn’t bloody good, you wasted your time.

(For the purists out there, I’m well aware some if not all clases can solo an elite mob 3 or more levels above them, I’ve done it myself, but for levelling, it’s totally counter productive.)

With that general premise under your belt you should also take the time to prepare a grinders toolkit

Grinding Toolkit

This is different for every class but the ones that are generic are:

Quality Cooked Food – Don’t waste too much time looking for it but if you can get it, great.
Bandages – The best possible bandages you can use on yourself, and plenty spare.
Potions – All manner of potions are available to increase your key stats, get some.
Healing Pots – Should never be used as a substitute for bandaging or eating, but can get you out of a death situation
Mana Pots – Same as above, for emergencies.
Swiftness Pots – A get out of jail free card, keep one handy wherever possible and dont be afraid to use them
Free Action potions – The same, if a mob roots or freezes you in some places, it can be game over, these prevent that so are a worthy addition, though you should never grind on mobs that can do this to you.
Sharpening Stones/Weight Stones – A must for any melee class, get the best ones you can, they stack with enchantments, but wont stack with Rogue Poison.

Enchantments.

These are a god send, you’ll last a lot longer if you have enchants all over buffing every item, if you’re not enchanted/modified from head to toe, put it on your "to do" list.

Weapon enchants are always a bone of contempt. At lvl 50 it’s not worth going for Icy Chill, Crusader or anything fancy as the weapon will be gone soon and you wasted your money.

A good solid enchant for grinding is beastslayer, impact. Yep, the cheap ol red and blue glow stuff that goes cheap in AH. If you go beastslayer, your grind needs to be on animals, the other alternative is to have a Blacksmith enchant on your weapon, the only one really worth a damn is the weapon chain which is a bonus when fighting mobs that disarm, (remember those wastewander pirates do we?… annoying wasn’t it?)

In any case, you see where I’m going, all of this stuff is relatively inexpensive at this level, you don’t have to buy the best stuff you can get but anything that speeds your progress during a grind is a good thing. Get lots of it and use it as needed.

Early Fifties

Should be spent smashing up 47-50 mobs. A good spot for them is the Western Plaguelands. The area south of Andorhal is full of skeletons and zombies that are relatively easy to solo for all classes.

What’s better, they drop Major Healing potions. Handy if you’re a melee character. Furthermore, you can start working on your Argent Dawn faction here and get yourself up to a point where they vendor at Chillwind Camp will sell you "Enriched Manna Biscuits", these are one of the best sources of mana regeneration in the game. A nice addition to your kit

You can go from 50-53 here if you’re in the mood, if you’re not good at taking even level mobs fast then another good spot is Tanaris where there is still a ton of 46-49 mobs floating around the South West part of the zone. The Ogres in the camps there are probably best as they dont run at low heatlh and the respawns are a good speed.

Some Quest Series to start on when your early Fifties should be:

Un Goro, every quest in this zone is relatively straight forward and worth doing for some good xp. The only exception is the Monkey quest with the robot which requires an inlaid mithril cylinder, theyre usually on the AH but the quest rewards are nothing special in any case.

UnGoro is a good spot and the power crystals you collect have a value to your kit later on when you use the pylons to turn them into Crystals that enhance you for 30 mins or so. These can be exceptionally handy.

The ChillWind Camp line is good and there’s a lot of quests around which are easy to complete. The one to be careful of is the Cauldron series. The first one is not too challenging but the follow up Cauldron Quests are truly difficult to solo, even at high fifties and are not worth the effort.

Felwood has a series of quests that again are worth your time as they involve killing, especially the Jaedenar Satyr line of quests.

Once you’re done with these quests you should hang around a while and grind the mobs for xp, when you get bored of it, go hand in the quest and move onto something else.

Mid fifties

This is where it stars to get mroe than a little tedious.

Blackrock Depths is doable and a good source of experience through the various related quests. Aside from this you’ll be looking for 52-54 mobs to grind on some more.

The Skeletons and Zombies near Chillwind Camp were my favourite as they would go down easily and not cause too many problems with their diseases etc.

Close second were the Satyrs up North of Felwood, in the most North West point. If you have dual wield, get your weaps demonslay enchanted (odds are you have already cos it looks cool) and you will tear through these as your enchant often goes off in the fight, stunning and damaging the satyrs.

Another is the Firegut Ogres in Burning Steppes (A good spot for Miners) lots of closely packed low fifties ogres.

NOTE:

Some mobs have abilities that make them a real waste of time for grinding. A prime example would be the Pterrodax monsters in UnGoro, sure theyre the right level, they dont hit too hard but they have a surprise. They scream and fear you. Fear=not hitting, adds, hurt, more down time… bad.

If you come across a mob in your level range have a go, but if they pull a stunt on you that makes them bad news, don’t stick about killing more, go and find something else.

Satyrs and Ghouls and Skeletons will take you to 55-56 pretty easily. At this point you should consider some of the end grind spots. Winterspring is a very popular one and contains a lot of kill quests.

You’ll need to complete a furbolg kill quest to get faction to pass through the tunel at the northern end of felwood to get into WS but it’s not too taxing.

If you’re a warrior as I was, you can just say bollocks to them and run through with shield wall up toward the end. Might take you one death but its a lot quicker than working your faction.

Back to WS kill quests:

Personally I would skip the Chimera quests as they do a lot of damage before they go down making them impractical for grinding.

The best line is the Yeti line and the yeti caves are commonly found full of would-be grinders. If you can get the quests line and get in there, you’ll find them good fun to kill and relatively easy for the level.

Furthermore there’s a line of quests involving the nearby furbolg tribes. They’re always fun to kill, it’s a pity you can’t stuff one and keep it.

If you like to grind, there’s a sweet little spot south of Everlook down the path, as you go down there’s a hill path to the left that leads to a little Moonkin/Owlkin patch tha’ts nicely populated. Theyre a dead easy kill and again, good xp.

An alternative to WS is Eastern Plaguelands where the Fordring quest line "Demon Dogs" etc is a very useful kill line that starts up the east bank of the river as you zone into EP.

In Summary:

50-53:
Tanaris if you want to be safe, Ogres in the South West range from 46-47
Jadefire Satyrs in Felwood 49-50
Western Plaguelands – Mobs range from 50-52
54-56:
Western Plaguelands again, the 50-52 mobs are so easy to kill that the xp flies…a bit.
Jadefire Hellcallers and co up in Norther Felwood – mobs range from 53-54
57-60!
Winterspring – Yetis, Wildkin/Moonkin whatever they are, Furbolgs, Sabers(If youre a leatherworker)
Blasted Lands – Ogres
Deadwind Pass – Ogres, a nice spot if you’re looking for somewhere quiet.

Thats it.

Some Generic Tips

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again:

Pull!. Proper pulling will make the whle process much easier, lure mobs one by one wherever possible and fight them solo, if you get adds, conside whether it would be a better use of time to turn and run with a swiftness pot than stay and fight and suffer the downtime.

Pay attention!

When fighting use your left mouse button and mouse look all around you, if you’re not in a safe spot, move the mob. Safe fighting is qucik and happy fighting.

Use your abilities!

Speaking from a warrior point of view – Retaliation is often forgotten in grinding but makes a nice boost once every 30 mins. Use it every time it pops, go for 3-4 mobs and stick it on with your 2h weap out.

For rogues you have all manner of abilities that serve a similar purpose.

Hunters should use Rapid Shot every time it’s up

Mages – Evocation

Druids – Innervate

It’s all bog standard stuff but some people forget to use it as their grind pattern does not need it. Build it in, saving these skills for an emergency is a waste of time, use them and escape the emergency with your toolkit.

Celebrating in Style

Once you get close, get ready to take a screen pic of the ding, take that last mob on bare fist and naked, do whatever ya like but praise the gods that your grind is over.

Now it’s time to become a major loot whore and spend every night in Strat/Scholo/BRS trying to find all your tiered armour set drops. Good luck with that!

Thanks for reading, I hope the guides were useful in giving you some ideas on where to go and what to try.

I can go and have a rest knowing my bit for MPS is done

Happy hunting, questing and grinding.

1. Basics
————————–
Who?: You and the Buyer
What?: Fishing stonescale eel for money
When?: Real time, or even while your sleeping.
Where?: Azshara, Tanaris, or Feralas (Feralas is only for emergancy =p)
Why?: FOR MONEY!

2. What do I need?
—————————
i. It’s required that you have a HIGH level of fishing, probably 225 or above. Having a high fishing level helps you fish faster, and more efficiently.
ii. A fishing pole would also help, Im using a "Big Iron Fishing Pole" (http://www.thottbot.com/?i=2950). This is VERY handy, but is a rare find.
iii. A safe spot to fish, also hidden. This helps when your either on a PVP server, or if you just flat out don’t want to be seen when using the Fishing Bot.
iv. And the fishing bot, which can be found under (on the left) – Quick-Strat Forums < Hot Strategies < WoW Stratagies < Quiet Knight’s Fishbot.

3. How much do they sell for?
—————————-
i. For a stack, I can usually get 8-10g. A stack consists of 20 Stonescale eel, and per-night I was coming up with 3-5 stacks.

4. Why do they sell for so much??
—————————–
i. The reason these Stonescale Eel sell for so much money, is because they make REALLY nice potions. These potions are called "Greater Stoneshield Potion". These raise a person’s armor by 2000 for 2 minutes. That’s like holding a shield for 2 minutes with the use of a potion. (http://www.thottbot.com/?i=23418) – These sell for 3g EACH on my server … (Cenarius, maybe because we’re so gready )

5. Easy things to make money even faster.
—————————–
i. Try to sell them through the "Trade" channle of your City/Zone. And tell them to "PST" to make that money on-site.
ii. Try to sell the fish for less then the AH, and TELL your buyer this, he/she will be persuaded even more towards your offer because of time and money saving.
iii. Sell at peak-hour times on your server, this should probably be 5-7 O’clock PM. This should be because people are getting back from work, and it’s before dinner.

I hope that this doesn’t spoil my chance for making ALOT of money =p, but I want the game to be "equal" ; ) – and every1 should have the same opprotunity.

While there’s lots of strats out there for making gold, it’s easy to overlook the obvious and simple. Rogue Pickpocketing is one of these often overlooked abilities that can make you more gold than you realize… often in very short amounts of time.

Taking 5/5 in Master of Deception is a good option anyway, but it definitely helps in thievery. Get Nightscape boots as well (craftable by most mid-upper level LW) as they add +1 bonus to stealth. 30+ mobs seem to carry an average of 2-3s each, plus mana and healing pots, as well as merchant fodder that sells for 1-2.5 silver each. At higher level mobs, you’ll even snag the occassional gemstone, and virtually all mobs will often give a Junkbox or Lockbox, which is invaluable in increasing lockpicking skills.

Go to an area full of NPCs that have pickable pockets. These include, surprisingly enough, skellies, ghouls, and other undead, Furblogs and timbermaw, and virtually any humanoid attackable NPC. But here’s a special little spot I’ve found where I make easily 5-10 gold in 20 minutes or less.

In BRD, after your group leaves, you can stay behind by yourself WITHOUT getting booted back to your hearth spot. THIS WORKS ONLY IF YOU SUCCESSFULLY DID THE ARENA, although you can try it with a higher probability of aggro otherwise. Go to the gallery that holds the spectators for the Arena (Ring of Law). They will not aggro you if you successfully defeated the challenge, and you can stealth and pickpocket the entire gallery (approximately 40 NPCs) with ease, with each npc holding between 3-4.5 silver. That alone is 1.2-1.7 gold, but I get 4-6 Superior healing pots, 4-5 Heavy Lockboxes, merchant trash (another 20-30s), AND a Star Ruby EVERY TIME.

Alright, I decided to write this little ‘mini-guide’ because I keep hearing about people having problems with priest.

Priest is honestly not a hard class to play if you know how to play it right.

This isnt a guide to go out and kill Onyxia solo, this is for the average fight you encounter wherever, knowing how to start a fight properly, and knowing how to react to a sudden attack.

This really only applies to Soloing.

I. Starting a fight: This is for the times when you see a mob and have time to set up an attack.

1.Preparation
a. First thing you do is make sure all of your buffs are in order, Power Word: Fortitude, Inner Fire, Etc.
b. Pop on Power Word: Shield. Alot of people make the mistake of putting on PW:S after youve already hit the mob with your pulling spell..this is WRONG…so dont do it. Instead, turn on PW:S and wait until you have about 15 seconds left on it before attacking. Most mobs take down your shield within 15 to 20 seconds, this way your mana will have time to recharge plus, by the time the mob takes down your shield, you’ll be ready to pop on another one.

2. The Actual fight (first blow to last)
a. Many people start the fight with Mind Blast because it does the most damage and takes the longest to recharge, wrong. dont do it. Start the fight off with Smite…Yes you heard me, Smite. Nobody mentions smite in their guides because it takes FOREVER to cast. This is why you cast it in the beginning. The mob will then start rushing towards you. You want your second attack to be Mind Blast because you can cast it in the amount of time it takes the mob to get to you. From there you want to hit the mob with Shadow Word: Pain and start the DOT process. (If youre in a group, or taking damage at any point in the fight, cast Vampyric Embrace to get some health back)
b. So far your attacks should be (IN ORDER)
Smite
Mind Blast
Shadow Word: Pain
c. For the rest of the fight you want to cast in this order.
Mind Flay
Mind Flay
Mind Blast
Repeat.
And apply SW: Pain or PW:S again when necessary

II. Sudden attacks
1. Alot of the time youre going to get attacked by mobs that just spawned or ones that you didnt see. The outcome of this fight is dependant on reaction time…so the biggest tip is this. KNOW YOUR HOTKEYS. Quick reaction time can save you from certain death.
a. First things first, pop on Power Word: Shield. This thing should give you enough time to get the next couple of spells in.
b. Vampyric embrace, dont bother with Renew, Minor Heal, Flash Heal, or Heal, These take too long to cast and take up way too much mana. Rather regain health as youre attacking, your DOTs should bring you the amount of health that you need.
c. Shadow Word: Pain to start the DOT process.
d. From there just follow the steps in section 2 based on a normal fight.
Mind Blast
Mind Flay
Mind Flay
Mind Blast
Repeat.
And apply SW: Pain or PW:S again when necessary

This is really more of a guide to soloing than a group guide, its also entirely dependent on you being a shadow build.

PS: You cant cast Smite while in Shadow Form. Take that into account.

Sorry for waiting so long to post this update. I don’t want to affect my own efforts. As you can see I have been collecting a lot of low level gems. My feeling is that these gems will have the highest markup after the expansion. The rule I set for myself was to not spend over 10s for malachite, tigerseye, and shadowgem. It is realistic that people after the expansion will spend 20s-50s each just to get past the low levels of jewel crafting. It’s funny because the bulk of the gems I bought for less then 3s each. In order to feed my apatite for gems I had to switch gold over to the alliance side. So now the market on my server both side has gone to ****. People are trying to charge 1g for 1 shadowgem. Same with tigerseye, but there is no way in hell anyone will spend that much at this point. As someone else pointed out gold, silver, truesilver bars will be a good thing to have for jewel crafting. I have made my own collection of these bars. But the point id like to make is that ore is 100% drop from veins. Unlike gems being a chance to drop.

Id like to share a story from the past and one from today. Long time ago I was saving gems to make a frostguard. As my gem collection grows the drop rate got worse and worse on gems from rich thorium. It got so bad to the point that I had to buy the rest of the gems I needed. As soon as I made the frost guard the rich thorium veins started to drop again like crazy. A friend of mine around the same time said she has not found a gem in like a week. The difference with her was that she sells all her gems in the auction. It’s my opinion that as long as the gem you mine is not turned into an item. It puts a hold on gems that you can potentially find. Selling gems in the auction is the worse thing you can do. Because someone may hold on to them for a long time making you finding gems imposable. As for the story from today. You can notice I have a lot of high level gems. With arcane crystals being the least amount I have. All my arcane crystals were mined by myself. When I mine rich thorium I only find arcane crystals, no other types drop for me. It must be my collection of other types of gems that stop them from dropping. Of course this is only my opinion on what I have observed.

I hope this has been of some use to some of you. Here are the links to my gem alts. I need 2 of them now.

Cheers,

Summary of going from 50 to 60:
At 50, head to Ungoro because of all the collection quests avaliable. This is mainly a beast zone, hoever, there isn’t an cash drops. There are good chances on items dropping in this zone.Doing each of the quests in Marshall’s Refuge will get you 2 levels easily in a day. It is quite crazy how much exp you can gain in this zone with grinding mixed with questing. Just make sure you bring a mithril Casing with you to this zone because you will need it for a certain quest.

Felwood has some good kills that give you faction with the Timbermaws. At this point you should have your weapon (s) of choice until you are ready to do high level instances. So put Demonslay on both. This gives you a chance to stun and deal out an extra 100 dmg on each hit. Felwood is, of course, filled with demons. This area is also good for the lower 50s. I got up to lvl 55 fairly easy in a couple days from lvl 53. There are some nice quests in the southern area of Felwood which are easy to complete.

Now that you have demonslay you can also benefit from the enchantment in Azshara. The west side has some Satyrs to kill which are fairly easy to take down, though they have imp minions. The northern camps have lvl 51 Satyrs if you find the western zone to be slow exp. The mid 50s allow you to move onto Winterspring. In the SW corner, there is a dwarf lady who gives a decent cloak just for walking from one end of the zone to the other. The town also has a nice chunk of quests to complete which give good exp. The really good spot though is Lake Kel’Therill. It has more ghosts that are good for exp and easy kills till lvl 58.

The Plaguelands are the final area to hunt in. The West from 52-55 and the East from 55-60. They are full of undead to kill. Mainly though, you are here for the Argent Dawn faction, which can only be obtained when under lvl 60. Keep that in mind. Might as well get it done before hitting 60. If you are looking for demons to kill the east has a lot of hounds, but that is about it.

In the end your travels will be in Blackrock Stronghold. Getting down the basics of the spawn will kill you off a few times, but once you learn to understand it, the exp is great! Half of it is casters, which are perfect for killing. You will more than likely hit 60 here.

Instances to take into consideration on the side:
Before you hit 55 you will want to run through Mauradon. The trash blade (from killing the princess) is an excellent sword if you are one who weilds a sword. This drop is only beat by a rare drop in Blackrock Spire by killing the end boss. Make sure you finish up any quests in the Sunken Temple too, there are a few that give decent rewards. There are quests for this instance all over the world so do not be surprised if you come along another farther down the line.

Blackrock Depths and Blackrock Spire are where you will want to spend your upper 50s definately. The drops here are ridiculously good and require you to have a skilled group. Mess up just a tiny bit and the group is gone so be careful.

Quick Overview of grinding areas and lvls:

50 – 52: Ungoro Crater
– Marshall’s Refuge has easy exp with all of the quests. The quests that tell you to kill Pterrodax do not take though (Waste of time). Start the Linken’s Quest.
-Perfect place for skinners to lvl up is the Gorillas on the eastern side and the raptors on the southern side.

50 – 54: Azshara
– Demon Satyrs north of ghosts and in the top (50-54). They have minions though, but not tough ones.

50 – 54: Felwood
-Demon Satyrs in Felwood. Middle-west in zone. (50-54)
-If you do not have Demonslay kill Ironwood Stompers. (50-54)

54 – 60: Winterspring
-Ghosts on the lake. Lower central part of zone. (54-56). Can easily be farmed if you have the quest called The Ruins of Lake Kel’Theril (Just don’t loot the shards you dig up) as it spawns 2 ghosts everytime you mine. Easy kills. Good Loot.

54 – 58: West Plaguelands
-Hunt Scarlets in the middle of zone. (54-58)

56 – 60: East Plaguelands
-Demon hounds across south end of zone (56-60)
-Mossflayer and Eyeless in middle of zone (56-58) and northeast (58-60). They spawn with chests.

58 – 60: Burning Steppes
-Orcs are stronghold. Takes a few tries to get used to it. Best place though since more than half are casters. (58-60)

Ok, first off, leatherworking is a resource hog. I spent a grip of gold powerleveling this profession just to 200. We will start with an itemization based on the items I used to get to 200. As always, your milage may vary and these are not my hard numbers used to get to 200. These numbers are what you should expect to consume during the leveling process.

Light leather: 255 (sure seemed like more)
Medium leather: 160
Heavy leather: 200

Light hide: 0
Medium hide: 25
Heavy hide: 20

Course thread: 150
Fine thread: 65
Silken thread: 10

Grey dye: 20
Green dye: 10

Salt: 85

Now that you have all your consumables, it’s time to start crafting….and crafting….and CRAFTING.

1-30: Light armor kits
30-40: Light leather quiver
40-50: Light armor kit
50-55: Hand stitched leather boots
55-90: Embossed leather gloves
90-100: Fine leather belt
100-115: Medium armor kit
115-125: Dark leather boots
125-135: Dark leather belt
135-150: Hillman’s shoulders
150-180 Heavy armor kit
180-190: Green leather bracers
190-200: Guardian gloves

All the items I chose to grind on were either with resale in mind (to offset the cost of mats) or pure skill ups. I’ll go over each item and detail my reason for choosing it.

Light armor kits: No brainer. They take 1 light leather and are yellow all the way to 50. They sell ok on the AH too.

Light leather quiver: These take 2 light leather and 1 course thread. Every hunter wants (or should want) one so resale is great. They are orange to 40 so take the guaranteed skill up.

Light armor kits: We go back to light armor kits because it’s just smart due to the minimal resources. It’s yellow but if youre on a budget it’s the way to go.

Handstitched leather boots: Filler item just to get to 55. Vendor trash.

Embossed leather gloves: Good for grinding because of the low resources used. More vendor trash

Fine leather belt: Another grey grinder to get to 100. **DON’T VENDOR THESE** (You’ll see why in a bit)

Medium armor kits: Just like light armor kits, they are reasonable on the resources and will sell on the AH.

Dark leather boots: Filler item. Vendor trash

Dark leather belt: THIS is the reason we kept those fine leather belts. Almost no resources (minus the hide) and these things sell well on the AH. I put 4 up at 50s and they all sold first time. I’m betting you can get more.

Hillman’s shoulders: The perfect grinding item. Reasonable resources and they sell very well. These shoulders are the first decent green for an up and coming rogue/feral druid. DE is also an option but you’ll do better to AH them.

Heavy armor: Same as light and medium armor kits. AH them or give them out to guildies.

Green leather bracers: Nothing exciting about these. Crappy stats but the best option for leveling at this point. I recommend DE for the vision dust/GME

Guardian gloves: Vendor trash.

Well, there you have it. Leatherworking 1-200 with full itemization. This is not the be all end all of LW grinding but more of a guide for those looking for a quick, semi-painless way to power level. These are many other patterns that sell well while youre climbing the LW ladder. Give those a try if youre skilling up while you level your character.

ENJOY!!!
